The Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission announces the annual competition for Fulbright Senior Postdoctoral Awards for Romanian professors, researchers and professionals who have a doctoral degree or equivalent (certified). Grants are available for conducting research and/or lecturing in the U.S. universities.

The Fulbright Senior Postdoctoral program provides international travel, accident/sickness insurance and a monthly stipend covering accommodation and living expenses.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program 2014 Print

The Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission is pleased to announce the annual competition for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for mid-career professionals who have a proven track record of leadership, a public service commitment and the capacity to take full advantage of a self-defined program of independent study at a leading U.S. university. The program offers a year of combined academic (NON-DEGREE) and professional work and awards a certificate from the U.S. Government.

The Humphrey Fellowship provides: international travel, tuition and university fees, accident/sickness coverage, monthly maintenance allowance and funding for books and professional activities. The Humphrey Program does not provide financial support for accompanying dependents.

Fulbright Grantee Organizes the First “Transatlantic Mountain Cultures: Appalachian and Carpathian Perspectives” Lecture Series Print

On 12 April 2013, Transylvania University of Brașov hosted its first lecture series on “Transatlantic Mountain Cultures: Appalachian and Carpathian Perspectives.” Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Elijah Ferbrache, along with professors Dr. Cristian Pralea and Dr. Georgeta Moarcăs organized the event. Presenters from the United States via Skype video conference included:  Dr. Don Davis, author of several books, as well as a a former Fulbrighter to both Romania and Ukraine and Dr. Dan Schope from Shawnee State University in Southern Ohio. Presenters in Brașov included: Dr. Georgeta Moarcăs professor in the Transylvania University faculty of letters, Dr Anne Murray, Senior Fulbright Scholar at  SNSPA in Bucharest and professor at Pfeiffer University, USA, and Elijah Ferbrache, Fulbright ETA at Transylvania University of Brașov.

America as Seen by a Fulbright Alumna Print

The opening of the photo exhibition Random America: People & Places. Signs & Artifacts by Rucsandra Pop took place on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the U.S. Embassy premises. This joint event, organized by the Fulbright Commission and the Public Affairs section of the U.S. Embassy, has been the first in the series of activities marking the 20th anniversary of our institution. Moreover, it has been an excellent opportunity of bringing together the Fulbright community, U.S. and Romanian grantees and alumni, once the Fulbright Alumni Association has re-launched in a new format and is now chaired by a new board.

„Diploma of Excellence” to the Fulbright Commission Print

The Fulbright Commission was awarded a Diploma of Excellence for „dedication and commitment to the long lasting values of higher education in the field of international economic relations”, at the festive event organized by the Faculty of International Economic Relations celebrating the centennial of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE).
The festivity took place in the Academy’s Aula Magna on April 4th.

"My daughter, Amanda, is almost 24. She loves animals, small children, film-making, writing, swimming, and talking about science. She is also autistic and deaf. In coming to Romania she has had several marvelous opportunities to share aspects of her life and to benefit as a result. She has volunteered at Invingem Autismul, a center for young children with autism. Amanda has also spoken to both parents and professionals about growing up with autism and learning to cope with the challenges it and her hearing impairment have created. Despite these challenges she is working on earning a university education and is pursuing her dream of being a filmmaker.

Fulbright Roundtable at ASE International Conference on Language Education and Research Print

The Fulbright Commission added a strong U.S. flavor to the international conference "Improving Standards of Quality in Language Education and Research" organized by the ASE Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication together with its international partners on March 1-2. The U.S. academic impact was twofold: while Prof. Swales from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, was the key note speaker with a presentation on “Entering Academic Publication Worlds: Reflections and Responses”, the Fulbright Commission was the highlight of the section Improving Professional/Academic Performance through Educational and Cultural Exchanges with its roundtable on “The Impact of Educational and Cultural Exchanges on Language Education and Research”.
