Fulbright Senior Fellow 2010, Arizona State University
My Fulbright experience started, in a way, twenty years ago, when a friend told me about her dream – to become a Fulbrighter. Then I discovered America from the Secolul 21 review - the volumes 7-8-9 from 1999, (http://www.secolul21.ro/numere/america/america.html). Three years later I arrived in Arizona as a Senior Fulbrighter. In the office of dr. G.T. Heydt (Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) I understood the meaning of teamwork, I met future colleagues with whom now I collaborate on European research projects, I discovered the value of professional associations (ieee.org, ire.ro, cigre-cnr.ro) and that of volunteering (www.fulbrightalumni.ro, www.ad-astra.ro).
Now I look forward to my next stay at Arizona State University – a returning chance that can teach me how to further turn my students’ dreams into good engineering.
