Admissions to undergraduate programs, module I: Wise selection, perfect match, generous funding
Learn about study programs in the US that match your intellectual and financial needs. The session provides comprehensive tips for identifying US universities which can offer extensive financial aid to international students, effective strategies for establishing contact, suggestions on how to market yourself to US universities and more.

Admissions to undergraduate programs, module II: The application package
The session will focus on the components of a successful application package that sheds full light on your strengths and personality. Practical advice, examples, and tips on the effective management of the application package will be provided. Suggestions for enhancing the application through competitive test scores will round off the session.

Admissions to undergraduate programs, module III: “Your route to success, as successful Romanian applicants see it”
Join us for an informative and inspiring session in which we will watch videos documenting a successful approach to undergraduate admission in the US. The actors are Romanian applicants admitted and funded by Amherst College, Hamilton College, Duke University, Harvard College, Yale University, Mt. Holyoke College, Occidental College, International University Bremen, etc. The first DVD is a colorful, engaging introduction to the U.S. higher education system and its unique features. The second one offers insights and strategies for putting together a successful application package.

Admissions to undergraduate programs, module IV: The college essay
This session will offer relevant theoretical input and plentiful practical activities. You will see some effective essays that won their authors presidential scholarships, despite unimpressive SAT scores or average school records. Learn more about the only element in the application package that is entirely in your power to polish to perfection. Will you miss the opportunity to win the admissions officer’s heart with your powerful, insightful essay? Time permitting, we’ll be watching sections of the in-house produced DVD on the admissions essay featuring Romanian students admitted to top schools in the USA.

Admissions to undergraduate programs, module V: Romanian success stories
The session will present case studies of successful undergraduate applicants, highlighting the main ingredients of their success. With their authors’ permission, actual official transcripts, application forms, admissions essays and recommendation letters will spell out the chemistry of their success. Time permitting, you’ll be able to watch one more in-house produced video: “Romanian Success Stories of Admissions and Funding: Amherst College, Hamilton College, Occidental College, Duke University and Yale University”. A perfect opportunity to learn about the Romanian students’ match with their schools and the generous financial aid it generated.

Admissions to graduate programs, module I: Wise selection, perfect match, effective communication, full funding
This interactive presentation will cover the main criteria for selecting the U.S. universities which can offer financial aid to international students. It will also offer tips on effective strategies to establish contact, market yourself and develop a relationship with a professor. The session will also introduce you to the application package and focus one of the main components of the application package: the official transcript.

March 30 15:00 – 17:00

Admissions to graduate programs, module II: The application package
The session will focus on the timeframe of the admissions process and the components of a successful application package. You will learn plentiful practical suggestions and strategies for enhancing your application. You will also have the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in evaluating an application package of a recent successful Ph.D. applicant.

Admissions to graduate programs, module III: The graduate essay/statement of purpose
The session will offer relevant theoretical input on the role and impact of the essay in the graduate application package, as well as practical activities highlighting competitive statements of purpose and essays from Romanian students currently enrolled on graduate programs in the U.S.

April 20 15:00 – 17:00

Admissions to graduate programs, module IV: Success stories
The session will present a number of case studies of successful graduate applicants, highlighting the main ingredients of their success. With their authors’ permission, actual official transcripts, application forms, admissions essays and recommendation letters will spell out the chemistry of their success.

Inside graduate admissions: the admissions committee’s perspective
The video “Inside Graduate Admission” will provide the admissions committee’s views on enhancing your graduate application. A great video with tons of eye-opening information! The discussions the film will generate will serve to clarify, expand and recycle the information provided in the earlier modules.

20 participants are admitted to each session. Participation is on a first come, first served basis.
