The Fulbright Educational Advising Center has a lot to offer. Pick from the following FREE SERVICES it provides:

  • Accurate, comprehensive, up-to-date, unbiased information on: the U.S. higher education system; study programs offered by U.S. colleges and universities at graduate and undergraduate level; admission requirements and application procedure; financial aid; standardized testing for admission to U.S. higher education institutions: TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT; cultural and academic adjustment in the U.S.; preparation for the visa interview.
  • Group advising on admission-related topics (please see Calendar). Offered on Tuesdays between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. They answer general questions about application and admission to study programs in the U.S. If you plan to attend, please register by e-mail, by phone at 021 231-9015, or in person within the public hours. Eighteen participants are admitted to each session. Participation is on a first come, first served basis.
  • Individual advising, by appointment only: You can sign up for a 30-minute individual advising appointment with a US trained educational adviser. The purpose of these individual sessions is to offer you the opportunity to get customized guidance and in-depth answers to your admission-related questions. Individual advising is not meant to assist you with filling in test registration forms or applications to U.S. programs or any of the Fulbright awards. Such issues will be handled by Fulbright staff members as follows: questions about the Fulbright grant programs will be answered by the Fulbright Program Assistant This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; general questions about application and admission to independent study programs in the U.S. will be answered in group advising sessions and in ad-hoc consultations with the Advising Center staff. If you have specific issues which you want to address in an individual advising session, you need to fill out the individual advising form. NOTE: Individual advising appointments are not for first time visitors.
  • Test preparation through individual study.

 


Paper-based: All the test-preparation books are for study ONLY in the reading room of the Advising Center. In order to access our rich and updated selection of test-preparation materials you need a valid ID. For TOEFL preparation, please bring a portable CD-player (for the listening section).

Computer-based: Free electronic test preparation is available for TOEFL, GRE, and GMAT on nine work stations. For computer access you are advised to book time in advance.

Free copies of the registration bulletins for the standardized tests are available by mail or in person.

  • Internet access.
  • Photocopying facilities: Only information on U.S. universities and study programs can be photocopied, maximum ten pages. Test preparation materials will not be photocopied.

 


The Center organizes:

  • Focus sessions: university highlights through presentations by university representatives, faculty and/or students;
  • Admissions-specific workshops;
  • International Education Week: a series of educational events celebrating international exchanges;
  • Pre-Departure Orientation: The Center offers students admitted to U.S. universities a full-day pre-departure orientation held usually in mid-July. The orientation program is meant to facilitate the students' cultural and academic adjustment during their study or research program in the United States.
  • Training and support services for the Education USA centers in Romania;
  • Training programs for the U.S. Fulbright grantees doing educational advising in Romania and for the staff of the American Corners in this country

 


The FEAC is situated on the ground floor of the Fulbright Commission and includes:

  • Reference library and study room;
  • Computer center (9 work -stations, test preparation materials and free Internet access);
  • Presentation room (plasma screen and video conference facilities).
