The academic year normally runs from late August/early September to the end of May with two main holiday breaks at Christmas and in spring.

The calendar can be divided in a variety of ways: semester system, quarter system, or trimester system. Still the same amount of study material is covered in a yearlong course regardless of how the calendar is arranged.
