Fulbright Presentations for High School Students in Cluj

Kimber Guinn, currently a Fulbright ETA in Iasi, led two presentations for 29 students and 3 teachers from "Victor Babes" High School in Cluj-Napoca and Waldorf High School on March 29, 2019 at the American Corner Cluj-Napoca.
The first topic detailed the U.S. Education System. Highlights included public vs. private schooling, K-12 academic year and daily structure, curriculum expectations, legislative bills and policies impacting education such as the National School Lunch Program and Kentucky's HB 205 Bill, and challenges education in the U.S. encounters.
The second topic covered Everyday Leadership and allowed students to develop their own service action plan. Participants were led through the five stages of project development which included identifying relevant issues, creating a mission statement, goal setting. Students left with the knowledge and power to enact change within their community.
