A Hyphenated American

Chealin Won, Fulbright ETA Student, affiliated with the University of Craiova, has recently made a presentation for students of the American Studies Department at the University of Bucharest. “With a presentation titled, 'A Hyphenated American,' I shared with the class my Korean-American Identity and how it has shaped my life. With a focus on the diversity of the United States, I shared statistics regarding the most recent racial census and led discussions about national identity with a framework of the U.S. as an immigrant country. I also made a connection with the students by asking the class to share about how they understand their Romanian (or Polish, Serbian, Moldovan) identity. This led to a larger discussion on citizenship and national identity.”
