Welcome to U.S. Fulbright Grantees 2016-2017

The new American Senior Scholars, Researchers and ETA Student grantees have arrived at the beginning of the current academic year. Thanks to the increased financial contribution of the Romanian Government, we have the opportunity to welcome twenty-four American Fulbrighters, more than in any other year of educational exchanges between our countries. The Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission organized in their honor the Orientation Seminar aimed at introducing them to the new environment and help them adapt, know each other as well as Romanian academics, colleagues and alumni of the program.

The current group of American Fulbright grantees consists of professors and students who are teaching and performing research in the fields of Law, Theater Arts, Education, American Studies, Business Administration and Economics, Geology, Sociology and Social Work, Agriculture, Interdisciplinary and Global Studies, Ethnomusicology, Archeology, Modern History, Public Health and English Teaching Assistantships (ETA) at universities and institutions in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Brasov, Constanta, Timisoara, Oradea, Pitesti, Galati, Arad, Targu Mures and Baia Mare.

On October 8, the newly arrived American grantees were welcomed by U.S. and Romanian high officials, and received information on different topical subjects by U.S. Embassy experts and Romanian and U.S. alumni of the program. Also present were professors representing the universities of Arad, Baia Mare, Targu Mures and Galati, Romanian education institutions which have for the first time been included in the exchange programs.

In the evening, a welcome party was organized for our guests at Casa Oamenilor de Stiinta. On Friday, October 7, the group visited Peles and Pelisor Castles in Sinaia.
